The first thing a new believer needs is discipling…and discipling never stops. Jesus called the Twelve and discipled them throughout his 3-year ministry. Bible teaching is one of our primary means for discipling. We all need to be students of the bible continually. New believers need to learn fundamentals: Old Testament vs. New Testament; God and the Hebrews/Israelites, the Patriarchs, the Prophets; the birth of Jesus and his ministry, the Apostles. More seasoned believers need more detailed knowledge: the OT’s pointing toward the Messiah, Jesus; deeper study of the Patriarchs and Prophets, and Jesus and the Apostles. Study of what God has revealed in Scripture, the Bible, and what He has done for us through his Son, Christ Jesus, is paramount to grasping the truth of God’s mercy and grace to those who believe.
